Good books make great gifts. McDaniel College Associate Librarian Jane Sharpe will take the guesswork out of finding the best books to give this holiday season. Her forum, “Books Sandwiched In”, will be held noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday November 20 in McDaniel Lounge.
The event is free and open to the public. Participants are invited to bring a bag lunch. Beverages and snacks will be provided. Please join us this Thursday, November 20 for “Books Sandwiched In”
Beginning January 1, 2009 the procedure for logging into the databases from off-campus will change. Instead of logging in using the current method, entering your last name and barcode, users will enter the same ID and password they use for accessing email and Blackboard. Hoover Library is holding a book sale on Saturday, September 27th, during Families Weekend. Books are just .50, so stop by the main floor of the library between 1pm and 3pm to browse through the titles.
Hoover Library is conducting a trial of the database Environment Complete. “Environment Complete offers deep coverage in applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, renewable energy sources, natural resources, marine & freshwater science, geography, pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law, public policy, social impacts, urban planning, and more.” To access the trial, go to http://hoover.mcdaniel.edu/journal/ then scroll down to Environment Complete. Starting at approximately 4pm on Friday August 15th, and lasting until about 8am on Monday, August 18th, the library’s catalog will be unavailable to patrons due to upgrades at Carroll County Public Library. Patrons will be able to access Hoover Library’s databases, but searching the catalog for books will not be possible.
